Catholic faithfuls of Idah Diocese, have been thrown into serious confusion following the kidnap of Rev. Father Innocent Umor of Ikanepo Parish, Ankpa Local government, Kogi State.
According to information from Reverend Father Hyacinth, made available to The UNION in Lokoja yesterday, the kidnappers stormed the parish at about 2 am Monday morning with guns and made away with the Priest.
The Reverend Father said after several hours of the incident from the parish, the gunmen numbering about five called the Bishop of the Diocese, Bishop Anthony Adaji with seized cell phone of their victim demanding N4 million ransom.
The kidnappers who did not say what was responsible for the odious and heinous business of kidnapping a Reverend Father were speaking, according to the parish boys, some funny language which was not discernible.
When contacted, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State command, Mr Samuel Ogunlusi stated that he got the information from the men on ground and the Bishop of the Diocese.
He said that the kidnappers entered the Father;s house at about 2 .10 am noting that his men of the anti-kidnapping squad had been deployed to the area, however stressed that nobody has claimed responsibility.
