BREAKING NEWS: Buhari Fires SSS Director General

The Director General of the State Security Service, Ita Ekpenyong, has been relieved of his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, with  immediate appointment of a successor, Lawal Daura.
Ekpeyong’s removal and the appointment of his successor was made public by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, through a statement released by Haruna Imrana, the Director of Communications in the civil service office.
The statement says that Daura who is now the new topmost man of the SSS, which acts as the nation’s secret police, was born in Daura on the 5th of August 1953, and attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from 1977 – 1980. He also acquired knowledge of both home and foreign professional security studies,which include the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS) Kuru.
His career in the State Security Service started in 1982, and culminated to the rank of Director.
Prior to his appointment as the new helmsman of the SSS, he had held various positions such as Deputy Director, Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre, at the Presidential Villa Abuja between 2003 and 2007.
He was also State Director of Security Service in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States, at different times.
