Berto Vows To Kick Mayweather’s Ass

Few people have matched up with Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s yaps but his next, and probably last opponent, threw the first punch. And it’s a power punch. Andre Berto told BoxingScene.com he would knock out Mayweather on their September 12 fight to end Money’s win streak at 48. “I’m coming to kick Floyd’s ass on September 12.

Best believe that I plan to bring it to Floyd and I’m not concerned about what 48 other fighters have been unable to do,” Berto said. Mayweather’s last fight, against Manny Pacquiao, had all the hype of the world but failed miserably with analysts and boxers calling the socalled “Fight of the Century” a monumental dud. Berto (30-3) vowed Mayweather’s (48-0) last fight would provide the fireworks. “Somebody is getting knocked out and it won’t be me. You don’t want to miss this.”

Mayweather, 38, said in a prepared statement when the Showtime payper- view bout was announced Tuesday that Berto is “a young, strong fighter who is hungry to take down the best.”

There is tangible public disinterest for the bout given Mayweather’s May defeat of Manny Pacquiao in the richest bout in boxing history. Choosing Berto is seen by many as an anticlimactic ending.
