Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s boxing IQ proved to be the difference in his much-hyped “Fight of the Century” against Filipino ring icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao – at least according to former world champion Shane Mosley. Mosley initially picked Mayweather to win the fight, citing the American’s ability to avoid sustaining too much damage.
But after the event was done, Mosley said he scored the fight in favor of Pacquiao, who was the more aggressive fighter. Judges disagreed with Mosley, scoring the fight unanimously in Mayweather’s favor. Mosley, speaking to Tha Boxing Voice, said the fight was “pretty good,” despite many fans bemoaning how it failed to live up to the hype.
“I know that Floyd is very good at judging his range. Floyd was able to sit past his shots and shoot his right hand. I think the boxing IQ was the difference,” he added. “He knows how to win rounds.”
