West Brom May Flush Out Ideye, Anichebe

West Bromwich Albion duo, Brown Ideye and Victor Anichebe, could leave the club after Jose Salomon Rondon’s arrival. Rondon, a club-record 12 million pound signing from Zenit, was ineligible for Monday’s 3-0 Premier League loss to Manchester City.

But the signing of the 25-year-old is likely to lead to departures, with one of – or both – of Ideye and Anichebe potentially leaving. West Brom manager Tony Pulis said he was unsure whether it would speed up the transfers.

“Obviously Victor and Browny – people will look at them and think they have to now move on, but I think they’ve wanted to play more regular football anyway,” he said after the loss. “The fact we’re bringing Salomon in – does it hasten their move from the football club? We’ll have to wait and see.”

Ideye became West Brom’s record signing last summer when they snapped him up from Dynamo Kiev for £10 million. But the forward struggled in his early days at the club. He failed to make a consistent impact at West Brom and was not playing regularly under former boss Alan Irvine.

And after impressing during preseason, Ideye made it clear that is full of confidence for the season ahead. “I will just make believe this is my first season with the club. I believe this will be a good year for me.

The fans will remember my goals,” he said. Anichebe on the other hand has had to nurse different injuries, a development that has limited his playing time for West Brom since the summer of 2013 when he joined from Everton. He also had a good preseason but his struggle for playing time seems set to continue with the arrival of new signings at the Hawthorns
