Premier League club won’t keep Nigerian duo despite failing to sign new striker
West Brom are still planning to sell Victor Anichebe and Brown Ideye, despite seeing the trail for Andre-Pierre Gignac go cold. The Birmingham Mail claim Baggies officials are still planning to offload their Nigerian strikeforce this summer as Tony Pulis reshapes his squad for the new campaign.
Ideye struggled during the first half of last season but finished the campaign with four goals in 13 starts and 11 substitute appearances. But, having produced a ratio of better than a goal in every two games at Dynamo Kiev during his three seasons in Ukraine it was still a poor return.
Anichebe finished the season with three goals in 11 starts, exactly the same as his first season with the club, but continues to be dogged by injuries. Pulis’ pursuit of Gignac appeared to herald the end of their time at the Hawthorns, although the Frenchman is edging towards a move elsewhere with Tigres, Al-Nasr and Galatasaray all ahead of Albion in the race for his signature.
