Heather Watson has insisted that she won’t be overawed by the occasion of facing Serena Williams in the third round at Wimbledon. After impressive wins over Caroline Garcia and Daniela Hantuchova, Watson will get the opportunity to face the five-time champion, probably on Centre Court, but the British number one is hoping that she has benefited from previous defeats at SW19.
“This time around, this isn’t my first, second or third Wimbledon. I’ve gotten a feel for playing the top players. At the end of the day everybody is human. Everybody’s going to make mistakes.” Tomorrow’s contest is the first time that Watson and Williams have faced each other on the WTA Tour.
