Nigeria international helps club to first maximum points in sixg ames

Striker Anthony Ujah returned to the business of scoring goals for his German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on Saturday after he scored a brace in a 3-1 win over his former team Mainz.

He opened the scoring in the 38th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead, before he doubled their lead in the 44th minute.

Ujah who has not scored since his strike against Hoffenheim on 13th September, 2015, has now scored four goals for Bremen this season in the Bundesliga.

He was replaced with Claudio Pizarro in the 82nd minute. Reportedly, Ujah’s two goals gave Bremen their first points in six games. Though quiet for large periods, he showed classic poacher’s instincts, striking ruthlessly to stun his former club at the end of the first half.

While the Green-Whites were passive in stages, Ujah and Bartels’ link-up play – as well as a first win in six – will give the side plenty to build on heading into next week’s clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Three of Ujah’s four goals for Bremen have come from crosses and his only previous Bundesliga brace came from Mainz (versus VfB Stuttgart in November 2011).
