Raheem Sterling was among Liverpool players that returned to pre-season duty on Monday as the squad step up their preparation for the new campaign.
He was joined by the likes of Jordan Henderson, Rickie Lambert and Kolo Toure at the club’s Melwood training ground on Monday morning. Sterling turned up in his Mercedes car despite growing speculation linking him with a move away from the club.
The wantaway winger has been the subject of two rejected bids from Manchester City – the last offer being for £40million – with Liverpool holding out for £50m.
Sterling has already rejected a new contract at Anfield, worth £100,000-a-week, and Chelsea were thought to be interested in him, but will not match Liverpool’s asking.
