Gbolahan Salami is still riding the crest of a wave after firing a hattrick for Warri Wolves on Saturday
against Sunshine Stars in a feisty match day 32 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clash.
The attacker netted on 42, 53 and 90 minutes to power Wolves past their rivals in the title race and for a continental ticket as they moved into second place, just three points behind the leaders, Enyimba who play against Heartland on Sunday.
Salami says he was surprised he netted the hat-trick but knew he was going to score against the Akure
“To be honest, I did not know I was going to score three goals (on Saturday) but I knew I was going to score.
“I am happy with the goals but the most important thing was to get the victory,” he told supersport.com.
Wolves will qualify for the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history if they maintain their current position till the end of the season but Salami insists top spot is the target for his side.
