Romania-Hunted Fatai Seeks Eagles’ Role

Sparta Prague forward, Kehinde Fatai, has stated his desire to play for the Nigeria senior soccer team despite frantic moves by football authorities in Romania to get him change his allegiance. Fatai, a former Nigeria Under-20 and U-23 player, insisted his heart is with his native country.

“I am a Nigerian,” he said. “If the new coach Sunday Oliseh gives me an invitation I will take it. Nigeria is my country. “After doing well in the Romanian league and in Europa league all this while, I think I deserve my chance. “But I’m not bothered, I am fowomen’s   cused on doing well for my club and see what happens as regards my international future. God’s time is the best for everything in life, that’s my belief.”

Though FIFA had rejected initial request made by Romania to have Fatai play for their national team, the player, who recently moved form Romania Liga 1 club, Astra Guirgiu, to Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic, says the Romanians have not given up. “They wanted me and I they are still on it.

They still talk to me about it and they are working hard on it to make it happen. “I don’t know how they want to do it but they keep telling me they are on it, but I am right now focused on my club,” said the 25-year-old.
