Rangers’ thrashing Has Vindicated Us –Akinbobola

Chairman of Sunshine football club of Akure, Akin Akinbobola, has said that beating Rangers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in a rescheduled league match has proved that match officials that handled their match against Lobi Stars in Akure were not professional.

He told The Union on phone that the match officials came with a mission to frustrate them but vowed to resist intimidation from any quarters. “We have been vindicated by the display of our boys against Rangers in Lagos and we will continue to prove our doubters wrong.

The officials that handled our match against Lobi were not professional in their conduct, I’m not trying to justify any attack on them but their output was simply abysmal, “ Akin said.

He said his side will continue to fight till the last day for a continental ticket.

“Defeating Rangers has given us the courage to fight on and should we win our remaining games, we can still get a CAF Confederation Cup ticket to show for our efforts.

“We will keep hoping for the best while hoping that the teams ahead of us slump,” he concluded.

Sunshine Stars are fifth on the NPFL log with 56 points from 35 games and will face Bayelsa United and Enyimba in their last two games of the season after completing their abandoned game versus Lobi Stars in Abuja.
