NANS Lauds UNN For Hosting West African University Games

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has lauded authorities of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), for hosting the ongoing 2015 West African University Games (WAUG).
NANS Public Relations Officer, Nwankwo Ezekiel, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the games.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the games, which started on Oct. 15, has 26 universities in attendance.
NANS also commended the Local Organisation Committee and the participating institutions.
“Our unreserved appreciation goes to the local organising committee and most specially, the various institutions’ managements who have deemed it fit to avail their teams to participate in the WAUG 2015.
“I sincerely laud all teams comprising of students all over West Africa for equally taking part in this WAUG 2015.
“I will not fail to charge them to give their best in the football and hockey championship and also to hold onto the spirit of sportsmanship,’’ it said.
According to the statement, the games are aimed at promoting regional cooperation through sportsmanship.
It also commended UNN Alumni Association for its contributions in making the games a success.
The statement added that NANS would continue to support the host university and other schools to ensure peace and stability in campuses. (NAN)
