Nadal Learning To Deal With Defeat

Rafael Nadal admits that he has had to learn how to deal with defeat this season but he insists he still has the drive to succeed. The Spaniard has slipped to eighth in the world during 2015 having won only three events over the course of the season, and he has failed to get beyond the quarter- finals of any of the three Grand Slams.

The 29-year-old has lost 14 of his 56 matches and acknowledged that he must now accept that he is going to lose in some tournaments during the rest of his career.

The 14-time major winner did admit however that he is feeling in a positive mood ahead of the start of the US Open that kicks-off at Flushing Meadows next week and he believes his form has improved since the start of the season.

He said: “My feeling today is that I am playing much better than most of the time in the season. I have been losing matches that I should win. “During the season, there are some key moments that change the   dynamic and I lost all the opportunities to change the dynamic in those key moments.”
