After two months on the shelf, Seattle Sounders forward Obafemi Martins returned to win the AT&T Goal-of-the-Week award.
Martins, who returned to the Sounders line-up last Sunday, scored two goals in their 4-0 win. One of those goals fetched him the AT&T Goal of the Week, as well, making it the third time this season that the Nigerian has won the award.
Martins’ intricate footwoork and passing to get through Orlando City’s defense collected 45.34 percent of the ballots, easily outpacing the rest of the field. Nat Borchers’ game-winning header against his former team came in second with 21.97 percent of the vote.
Pedro Morales’ swerving free kick for the Vancouver Whitecaps collected 13.29 percent while Sporting Kansas City’s Paulo Nagamura finished fourth. New York City FC’s David Villa rounded out the field with 9.19 percent of the ballots.
