Nigeria Olympic Team invitee, Alex Iwobi, of Arsenal has been shortlisted alongside four others for April’s Barclays Under-21 player of the month award which will be announced today.
Reading’s Aaron Kuhl, Sunderland forward Duncan Watmore, Norwich City full-back Reece Hall-Johnson and Manchester City midfielder Olivier Ntcham were also shortlisted after impressing during the month.
The 19-year-old scored four times in Under-21 matches in the month of April but face stiff competition from Sunderland Watmore who also scored same number of goals.
Reading Midfielder Aaron Kuhl helped his side win all four Barclays Under-21 Premier League matches in Division 2 in April before they sealed promotion, while Norwich Hall-Johnson also helped his side go unbeaten in the month under review.
The recently turned 19-year-old is in the form of his life, with five goals in his last six matches in the league, including a hat-trick against Stoke City Under 21s early April.
Iwobi, a former England youth international, has excelled for Arsenal in recent games in terms of goal scoring because he has been playing a more advanced attacking role and the Gunners coach confirmed as much in his post-match comments.
