Igiebor Secures Treble With Maccabi

Nigeria international Nosa Igiebor celebrated his third title of the season after Maccabi Tel Aviv defeated cross-city rivals Hapoel Be’er Sheva 6-2 in the State Cup final.

Pako Ayestarán’s men, fuelled by a deafening atmosphere inside Sammy Ofer in Haifa, brought the Camels to their knees with an outstanding display to win the tournament for the 23rd time.

The former Real Betis star was serving a one-match ban – so watched actions from the stands as his teammates ripped Hapoel who had John Ogu and Austin Ejide apart. Going into the game, Super Eagles goalkeepr Ejide had kept 12 clean sheets in all competitions this term but conceded six goals with former Sweden forward, Rade Prica getting the better of him thrice.

Igiebor who has scored three goals in 29 league games for the Bloomfield Stadium outfit now boasts of the State Cup, Toto Cup and Premier League titles Maccabi Tel Aviv will now feature in the qualifying rounds of next season’s Uefa Champions League.
