Igbinoba Laments CHAN Eagles Snub

Nigeria Football Professional League (NPFL) leading goalscorer, Esosa Igbinoba is disappointed not to be called up to the Super Eagles home-based team preparatory to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Burkina Faso despite his contribution in the league this season for Nasarawa United adding that he thought his prowess as a scoring midfielder would put him ahead of others in his position.

He said he will console himself if he win the highest scorers award.

I still cannot fathom why I was omitted from the CHAN Eagles home based players preparing for the qualifier against Burkina Faso but I have taken that in my strides and I am eagerly waiting for my opportunity which I have no doubt in my mind that it will come soon.”

“I am aiming at winning the highest goals scorer award at the end of the season and breaking Mfon Udoh’s record is not on my mind at all. I am a midfielder doing the work of other strikers and adding more pressure to the one I have already will put additional burden on myself,” Igbinoba told Goal.

The midfielder was in the Nasarawa United squad that beat Bayelsa United 2-1 in Oghara for their third away win in the second stanza and this feat has made them to narrow the gap between them and third placed Wikki Tourists to mere two points even though they are placed sixth on the log with 52 points from 33 matches.
