Gov. Ganduje Inaugurates Kano Sports Commission

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano sate, on Wednesday inaugurated the State Sports Commission chaired by a renowned sports administrator and former chairman Nigeria Football Association, Alh. Ibrahim Galadima.
During the occasion held at the Government House in Kano, Governor Ganduje explained that his administration intends to have a new direction for sports in the state.
“Sports is a serious affair and our intention is to make it largely private sector driven so that we can create more opportunities for our youths to excel and win accolades for Kano”, the governor stated.
Governor Ganduje added: “Sports have gone beyond mere exercise for leisure. It is our belief that if we invest appropriately in sports we will not only be developing the physical and intellectual capacity of our youth but will also create jobs for them”.
He said the Sports Commission was composed of people who are directly involved in sports and who would hesitate to make sacrifices to ensure that the set goals are achieved.
Responding, the chairman of the commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima assured that they would work assiduously to revive sports from the grassroots, promote private investment in the sector as well as stop encroachment on sports facilities in the state.
