Peter Schmeichel has urged Manchester United to fight as hard as they can to keep David de Gea at Old Trafford. De Gea has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester to join Spanish giants Real Madrid and he only has one year left on his contract.
‘I would be upset if he left this summer because I’m certain he could go on to make multiple hundreds of appearances for United – and end up winning more medals than me,’ he said.
Schmeichel believes that De Gea has been ‘unbelievable’ and saved his team several times last season.
“Let’s face it, the number of games where David saved United three points or one point is the reason why they were fourth in the table. He has just been unbelievable.”
