Expose Female Coaches To More Training Courses – Etim

Joy Etim, a former assistant goalkeeper of the Super Falcons, on Wednesday advised government at all levels to expose female coaches to more training courses, to enhance development of female football.
Etim told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that many female footballers were coming up and needed to be nurtured to stardom.
She said that training courses would make the coaches familiar with technical abilities that would be of benefit to budding talents.
“The government should expose our female coaches to training courses within and outside the nation to boost their capacity in channelling talents of young footballers.
“Our female footballers are remarkably doing well at international football fiesta, and that is because the coaches are also pulling their weight.
“However, they need to be exposed to international training courses.
“Female coaches are in better position to mentor females because they understand them psychologically and know stages of programmes they can absorb over time,’’ she said.
The former assistant goalkeeper said exposure to such training courses would help in bringing out the best of the coaches.
“Even at the world level, female coaches are significant because of the exposure they are getting and our government can also create such opportunity for our female coaches,’’ she said.(NAN)
