Super Eagles and Lille of France goal keeper , Vincent Enyeama, has lost the prestigious award for the best African player in France’s Ligue 1 to Ghana and Marseille midfielder Andre Ayew.
Enyeama who won the 2014 edition could not replicate his superlative performances , thus losing out this term to the elder of the Ayew brothers.
The Nigerian goalkeeper has been shipping in goals ” recklessly ” unlike the former season in which his hallmark were clean sheets; going as much as 13 games without conceding any goal .
Aside Enyeama, 25-year-old Ayew, beat the likes of Ivory Coast’s Max- Alain Gradel (Saint-Etienne) and Tunisia’s Aymen Abdennour (Monaco) who all made the final shortlist for the Marc-Vivien Foe Trophy.
The individual award for Ayew looks set to be the last thing he will achieve as a Marseille player as he has stated he is leaving the club at the end of the season.
Ayew scored 10 goals in 27 appearances for the French giants this campaign and a move to the English Premier League is been muted for the Ghanaian star.
