Surgical operation on a niggling injury shuts out Nigeria basketball star for several days
Chamberlain Oguchi is currently undergoing rehabilitation after having a surgical operation on an injury that had plagued his performance since the 2015 African Basketball Championship in Tunisia.
The Anwil Wloclawek of Poland player last week Wednesday had a surgery on regenerative autologous plasma, which, according to his club, will keep him out for several days.
Prior to the surgery, it was reported that Oguchi will not play in Sunday’s game against AZSem Koszalin, and it is very likely that he would also be missing in action in a meeting with Slask Wroclaw.
Before finally succumbing to surgery, the 29-year-old and his agent met with club president Arkadiusz Lewandowski, who insisted that the player has to undergo one of the treatments proposed by his doctor.
The first option was to inject hyaluronic acid, commonly used in cosmetics and the second regeneration treatment autologous plasma (PRP), which is its own. And it was the latter option – which aims to stimulate the injured site to a faster recovery – that was chosen by the Nigerian shooter.
Oguchi, Most Valuable Player at this years Afrobasket, which Nigeria’s D’Tigers won for the first time, is reportedly now under the supervision of club doctors and coach of physical preparation, who supervises exercises to accelerate his return to the basketball court.
Anwil Wloclawek coach, Igor Milicic, will not be able to use the services of the player earlier than 10 to several days.
