World Boxing Association (WBA) cruiserweight champion, Denis Lebedev of Russia has vowed to beat his Nigerian opponent, Lateef Kayode, when both meet on Wednesday in Kazan, Russia.
Lebedev (27-2) is staking his title against Kayode (21-0) who is based in the United States.
Speaking about his preparation for the fight, Lebedev, who acknowledged Kayode’s competence, expressed confidence that he will beat the Nigerian.
“Training has been very good,” he said. “Great actually. Everything is going by the plan and we are ready for the fight! “He (Kayode) is a good fighter but I will beat him. I know how to fight him. You will see when we are in the ring.
“It should be a great fight without a doubt. It will be a great fight with two fighters both at the top of the division. Make sure too watch!”
On what he looks forward to do after the Kayode fight, Lebedev retorted: “Well I’m interested in unifying titles with anybody in the cruiserweight division. All of the champions. I’m very interested in a unification with Glowacki or any other champion.”
