Ahead of their Champions League semi final second leg on Wednesday night against Real Madrid, Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli has declared his determination to progress.
The Serie A champions hold a slender 2-1 lead over Real Madrid from the first game in Turin, meaning that a draw would be enough to see them through to the final.
Barzagli told Spanish newspaper AS that Massimiliano Allegri’s side have no intention of letting their advantage slip.
“We are completely focused,” he admitted, “because of the importance of the match.”
“Real [Madrid] could do it, so we will have to give everything on the field.”
“Getting to the final would be a great achievement for us,” Barzagli continued, “especially as few people imagined Juve would get to this stage.
We have always believed in the dream, and have managed to get this far.”
Should they be able to progress, it would be Juventus’ first Champions League final in 12 years.
