Liverpool are on the verge of completing yet another summer deal as Taiwo Awoniyi is said to be on his way to Anfield, Daily Star reports. The 17-year-old striker will turn 18 this Wednesday (today), when he is expected to undergo his medical as well as sign a professional contract with the Premier League giants.
However, with the Reds failing to acquire a work permit for the player, they will be forced to send him out on loan to either Belgium or the Netherlands in order to give him access to regular playing time. It is believed that Awoniyi has snubbed interest from both Monaco as well as Porto in favour of a move to England.
Although he has yet to represent the Nigeria senior squad, he has already featured for them at various youth levels and is also part of his nation’s Olympic squad. Apart from manager Brendan Rodgers being reinforced by a number of senior players this summer, he has also added to his youth side with the signings of Barcelona’s Bobby Adekanye and USA starlet Brooks Lennon.
