When Victor Anichebe plays well, West Bromwich Albion play well, or so claims the 27-year-old whose League goals have cost Albion £1 million apiece.
Anichebe has made just 22 League starts since his £6 million switch from Everton on deadline day in August 2013.
A further 22 have come off the bench with his sixth League goal arriving with a finely placed header at Newcastle.
There is little doubt that a fit Anichebe is quite a sight to see. It is just that those sights have been all too rare.
“It is always nice to score but whether I score or not it is always about the team,” he said at St James’ Park. “If the team do well and as long as I can contribute to that, then I am happy.”
“I am not one that is always talking about goal-scoring and all this kind of stuff – I leave that to Saido (Berahino).
