A striking partnership featuring Nigeria international Sone Aluko and arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom may be what Hull City need to take them to the top in the English Championship, according to a football pundit. Akpom, says Peter Swan, has shown enough to suggest the Tigers have a real talent in the building.
Coming off the bench in the League Cup on Tuesday night, Akpom ignited City’s attack, threatened with every sight at goal and brought an urgency and direction that until his arrival in the game, had been lacking. “With great feet, pace and clearly a good finisher as his two goals have already shown, the young man can provide the necessary goals,” said Swan.
Akpom, he however reckoned, can’t do it all alone. “He needs a strike partner to share the workload and play to his strengths. “Sone Aluko can be that man. Like Akpom he can drop deep and run at defenders and I know as a centre-half, I wouldn’t like to be playing against a partnership of Akpom and Aluko when they are running with the ball at me.
