PDP Crises: Sheriff Losses Out

..As party leaders unite, tasks members in Court to withdraw cases

Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff may have finally lost out in the battle to retain the chairmanship of the party as all organs of the party have united in support of Senator Ahmed Makarfi led National Caretaker Committee.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator who addressed the Press after the marathon meetings said the Board of Trustees has meet with the Governors Forum, former ministers Forum, concerned PDP stakeholders Forum, as well as the constituted organs of the Party.
Ambassador Ojo Madueke while reading the resolution of the meetings pointed out that all cases in Court should be withdrawn by aggrieved members for the party to explore all the internal mechanisms towards the resolution of the various contending matters.
According to Ojo Madueke the serial meetings resolved that “a high powered sub-committee to ensure speedy resolution and reconciliation of all contending issues is being set up.
“It was also agreed that the national care taker committee of the party ably led by the former Governor of Kaduna state Sen. Ahmed Makarfi and Sen. Ben Obi involve members of the concerned Stakeholders group for effective integration of all views and tendacies.
“A committee has also been set up to meet with former national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff.
In the spirit of working together and settling outstanding issues, all matters that are in Court, the parties are advised to withdraw them because of the extant regulation of the party, that no matter should go to Court, all matters that are in court should be withdrawn immediately as indication of good faith and commitment to party discipline and party unity.
“The various parties are also encouraged to make a commitment to maintain peace and undertaken not to resort with external agencies to meddle with sole internal party affairs.”
He said this decision is in agreement with that of the convention in Port Harcourt which dissolved the former NWC and
Mantu who spoke on behalf of the the Concerned PDP Stakeholders Forum said “We recognized Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi as the chairman and Senator Ben Obi as the secretary of the National Caretaker Committee.
The leaders of the party assured it’s teeming members to remain steadfast adding that the Governors have lent their weight to this agreement as they are part of it.
