Former Borno state Governor on the platform of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has been sworn in as the new substantive chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sherrif who took his Oath and Allegiance office last Night after a 2-day long process by the party mechanism promised to take all along.

He steps in as chairman of the party to complete the Northeast tenure as chairman following the exit of the erstwhile chairman Adamu Mu’azu after the loss of the party in the 2015 elections.
He stated that the challenge before the party is indeed a huge one but promised that the focus of the party to return to power at the centre will be achieved.
He said his leadership of the party will not be that of witch-hunt but democratic as democracy prescribes the collation of divergent views, analysed for a common approach stressing that superior arguments and popular decisions would be the Hallmark of his leadership.

He said the temporal setback suffered by the party in the 2015 election was not enough to diminish the spread and impact of the party on the country.
It was gathered that when Ali Modu Sheriff came to the party Secretariat, he walked straight to the office of the chairman, which has been under lock and key since Mu’azu’s exit where he waited for the party mechanism to conclud the plan of his takeover and unveiling to the party.
Roll call at the inauguration are Governors of Delta Ifeanyi Okowa, Gombe Ibrahim Dankwambo, Abia Okezie Ikpeazu, Enugu, Sen. Adolphus Wabara, Sen. David Mark, Walid Jibrin Amongst others.
