Don’t Repeat Mistakes Of PDP, Chieftain Tells Ortom

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chieftain Chief Abu Shuluwa, has cautioned Governor Samuel Ortom not to make mistakes that resulted to the lost suffered by the party in the 2015 general election.

Shuluwa who threw the caution while speaking at the stakeholders meeting organised by governor Ortom to unveil his blueprint noted that the PDP is watching him and his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and would capitalised on any mistakes made to wrestle power from him.

He urged the governor to separate party politics from government and ensure that interest of the state and people are placed first before party issues noting that Benue as a state is bigger than individual and party interest.

“Benue state is bigger than any individuals and political party interest’ so don’t mix politics with governance. Benue state has suffered enough so we cannot allow any leader again to take the state for a ride,” Shuluwa noted.

On fight against corruption, Shuluwa said the governor was on the right path and should investigate and ensure that those who looted public property or funds are made to refund it.

Governor Samuel Ortom earlier in his address said that during his inauguration as governor he pledged to constitute a participatory government in which citizens would have their say and way.

“I did promise that our administration would promote the growth and development of our state in accordance with the democratic principles of due consultation, full disclosure, transparency, inclusive participation, responsive leadership, rule of law and due process. This forum therefore has been organised to demonstrate our commitment to fulfilling that pledge.”

Today, our development blueprint, “Our Collective Vision For A New Benue” will be unveiled so that all of you can make inputs into its transformation into a viable working document and we expect that you would own and domesticate this document for our collective good,” the governor noted.

He noted that they have also inaugurated a committee to draft a long term development plan in accordance to the APC manifesto and his administration’s blueprint.
