If President Goodluck Jonathan, to avoid bloodshed, conceded defeat and handed over power to President Muhammad Buhari, conscience, courtesy, equity, truth and justice demands that, President Muhammadu Buhari, in order to avoid further bloodshed, to accept to hold a referendum for the Biafrans. President Al Bashir did it in Sudan to save lives from being wasted in his country hence the independence of the people of South Sudan. President Buhari advocated for the independence of Palestine and Western Sahara in September 2015 meeting of United Nations. Dear World Leaders, no father gives stone to his son who has asked for bread, serpent to the son who has asked for fish and scorpion to the son who has asked for clothes.

Christian religion makes us know via the Bible that God created the world and adorned it with beautiful and wonderful things. His purpose of creating man is for man to live happily and serve him here on earth after which man shall return to him for eternity. Virtually all religion has this common denominator or underlying principle.
Science on its part tells us that the world is a product of the “Big Bang”, an explosion that occurred some hundreds of millions of years ago. On the other hand, man is also said to have evolved from animals like apes, monkeys, chimpanzees, gorillas etc. This is the Evolution Theory of Charles Darwin. Out of these thoughts of philosophers, theologians, scientists and great minds, it is not conceived, expected or ordained anywhere that man should be slave to man or that man should prey on his fellow man.
The League of Nations failed to stop this man’s inhumanity to man hence the Second World War (1939-1945). The United Nations Organization came into being to restore the dignity of man. But along the line, the Saddam Hussiens, the Osama Bin Ladens, the ISIS and other haters of peace wanted to disrupt the relevant peace being enjoyed. Thank God that some of these agents of crisis have been tamed though it is not yet uhuru. Perhaps that was why President George W. Bush said, “The world is a safer place without Saddam Hussein”. The progressives should sleep with one eye open as to know whether the relevant peace in some of these trouble-spots, are graveyard peace. One who eats with the devil usually uses a very long spoon.
Dear Ban Ki Moon, Pope Francis, President Barack Obama, Prime Minister David Cameron, President Francois Hollande, President Vladimir Putin, Chancellor Angela Merkel and other world leaders, God knew why he created you and placed you on these positions more so at this point in time. One of them is for you to save humanity from what would befall it. Please do not be carefree with these god-sent opportunities and endowments neither will you abuse them or favour anybody unduly.
Dear World patriots, this world will be a better place to live in, if war, terrorism, injustice, man’s inhumanity to man, dictatorship could be eradicated completely from the face of the earth. All these vices have not, do not and will never solve problems. The ballot is far better than the bullet. People that suffer from these anomalies and suppressions need to be rescued immediately for they need justice, for it is only the earthworm that knows what it sees inside the soil. Bullet and terrorism are mistaken pacifications, retaliations or solutions for this slavery for a rat being pursued by the cat does not choose the hole to run into.
Biafrans willy-nilly want independence from Nigeria and what can be taken away from a child is what it holds on its hand not what it bears in mind. Nothing or nobody can kill the Biafran dream in Biafrans. In the words of Fredrick Nieztche, a German philosopher, “I would rather be a slave on my feet than be a king on my knees”. A Roman General, Julius Ceaser once said, “I would rather be first in the village than second in Rome”. President Leopold Senghor of Senegal on his part, prefers poverty in liberty to riches in slavery. The sage of Biafra and Nostradamus of Nigeria, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu believed in the fact that it is better to drive apart to safety than driving close and collide or somersault. Biafrans prefer to be somebody in Biafra to being human shield, nobody, slaves and use and dump or throw away in Nigeria. Biafrans need to be in their own country where they can vote according to their consciences instead of where they would vote and be thrown into the Atlantic Ocean.
Between 1967 and 1970, Biafrans engaged in fierce battle with Nigerians following the announcement that Biafrans have seceded from Nigeria. The war consumed over two million Biafrans. Since the end of that war that could have been avoided, much more numbers of Biafrans have been killed by various insurgencies and suppressions in Nigeria. Dear Ban Ki Moon, Pope Francis etc how many Nigerians will die before the problem of Nigeria and Biafra is discussed in the United Nations Organization? Most importantly, how many Biafrans will die before Biafra gets independence from Nigeria; five, ten, twenty, thirty million or extermination? He, who does not forbid sin when he can, encourages it. (Qui non vetat peccare cum posit jubet).
Biafra as an ancient nation had occupied a place in the ancient map of Africa of 1660 and 1706 but amalgamation of Nigeria was in 1914. There is no doubt that Biafra is older than Nigeria by over 200 years. Who dare say that the issue of Biafra is a dead issue? Napoleon Hill in his book, Think and Grow Rich, opined “I believe in the power of desire backed by faith, because I have seen this power lift man from lowly beginnings to places of power and wealth. I have seen it rob the grave of its victims; I have seen it serve as the medium by which men staged a come-back after having been defeated in a hundred different ways”. After all whatever has a beginning has an end (Quic quid initium habet finem habet). The amalgamation of nations into Nigeria expired in 2014 as succintly expressed in Sir Lord Luggard’s Amalgamation Paper. So Biafra has the right to self-determination consequently needs a referendum for independence from Nigeria.
A letter from Pope Paul VI to General Ojukwu saved the lives of 18 foreign oil workers already held for sabotage in Biafra in June 1969. Based on this premises, the hope of the suppressed people of Biafra on independence from Nigeria is recourse to the United Nations, World Leaders and patriots. One Igbo proverb has it that if someone has been there to direct its course, the river would not have meandered. The World Leader should rise to this onerous challenge of directing the Biafrans course via a referendum for independence before it meanders. As UN does one of the assignments for its creation, Biafran as a country will not be found wanting in its duty as a member of the United Nations.
