University of Lagos (UNILAG) was thrown into confusion early Wednesday morning as students old and young came out in large numbers to protest the death of Oluchi Anekwe, a 300 level accounting students who was electrocuted within the school premises.
She was electrocuted within the school campus by a naked high tension wire that fell on her. In a statement, President UNILAG Student Union, Comrade Abiodun Martins and Speaker, ULSU, Parliament, Rt. Jawosimi Olusegun said it regrets to announce the passing away of one Oluchi Anekwe, a 300 level student of the department of accounting.
“Oluchi, till her death, was a first class student, and a very active student in class. Our condolence goes to her families, relatives and friends. We pray that God will grant them the fortitude to bear the loss”, the union said, stressing that the event that led to her death is in its entirety avoidable.
