There Was No Primary Election – Frank

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Timi Frank yesterday declared that there was no primary election held in the state for the party stating that some members of the committee were under duress to declare Ex – Governor Timipre Sylva as the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the party’s deputy national publicity secretary said that his party will come up with a position of the primaries conducted adding that a day will be set aside for a rerun.

He revealed that both the chairman of the committee, Governor Adam Oshiomhole of Edo state and the secretary were not part of the ‘kangaroo’ primary as they were not present when the former governor was declare the flag bearer.

I am speaking as a concern citizen of Bayelsa that this primary is not acceptable anywhere. In a situation where all other aspirants walkout of the venue and a particular aspirant put a member of the primary election committee under duress to declare him a winner, with the chairman of committee, Oshiomhole and the secretary not present? “I believe the party will soon come up with a position on that fraud call primary election and schedule a date when an acceptable primary election will be accepted, “he said.

Reports have it that the former governor polled 726 votes out of 807 votes cast to defeat his closest rival,Mr. Timi Alaibe, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, who got four votes. It was also reported that the Governor Adams Oshiomhole led 7 member Committee appointed to conduct the election were taken away to safety by JTF before the primaries could start as thugs invaded the venue.
