Spanish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Alfonso Sebastian, said his country is seeking closer relations with Kano State in the areas of trade, water supply and technology. Mr. Sebastian who disclosed this yesterday during a courtesy call on Governor Abdulahi Ganduje also said that currently, a Spanish company is interested in constructing a Photovoltaic Electricity Plant that will produce 100 MW in Kano, at no cost to the government, if it can provide them with a piece of land.

Ambassador Alfonso Sebastian told the governor that Spain has one of the world’s largest Gross Domestic Product and is potentially rich in renewal energy sources. Responding, Kano State governor said government has promised to provide land and other incentives that will encourage foreign investors to set up manufacturing plants and other infrastructure in the state.

He said the present administration in the state does not tolerate corruption, adding that because of Kano’s position as the populous city in Nigeria and strategic commercial centre, it is the best destination for doing business in the country. Ganduje disclosed that the state government is also palling to construct a new abattoir in the state, which he said would provide raw material for leather industries, especially those from Spain.
