Security: KEDCO Seeks Stronger Bond With Police

Teddy Nwanunobi, Abuja

The Kano Electricity Distribution Plc (KEDCO), in a bid to ensure safety of property and lives of its staff, is seeking a more pragmatic acquaintance and support from officers of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

According to an emailed statement from the Communications Coordinator, Mohammed Kandi, the effort was brought to fore recently in Kano State when a team of experts from KEDCO paid a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Zone One, comprising Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states, AIG Tambari Yabo.

The Ag. Chief Admin Officer of KEDCO, Kabir Umar Gano, who led the team on the visit, expressed his satisfaction with the level of enthusiasm the police have always displayed watching over KEDCO facilities in the zone.

Gano, who also stressed the need for additional security personnel to be deployed around KEDCO property assured that the management is working assiduously to tackle myriad of challenges that are militating against improved power supply.

“Really, we are battling with a couple of challenges, including vandalism, theft of cables and transformer, and oil amongst others,” he added.

Responding, Yabo thanked the management team from KEDCO and pledged that the police would do its best in protecting KEDCO possessions from any threat.

He further informed that his men would achieve the objectives via information sharing, proper investigation and prosecution of vandals within the three states of its operation.
