Just as the newly elected Governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade and legislators settle to commence their duties, royal fathers from the state have urged them to fulfill all their campaign promises to the people if they want good will of their subjects. His Royal Highness, Robbert Mbina Mbina Ajom iii, the Clan head of Apiapong in Obubra Local Government Council of the state, while speaking on behalf of his colleagues said, the common people of Cross River state have been neglected by the political class for the past 16 years of democracy, adding that they will no longer sit back and watch them continuing in that manner.

The royal father who was accompanied by four others to grace the inauguration of Senator John Owan-Enoh, hon. Chris Agibe, hon. Mike Etaba, Rt hon. Bassey Ewa both representing the people of the central senatorial district and others from the explained that their presence was to prove a point that if the politicians have forgotten them, they have not forgotten them because they (politicians) are their subjects.

He said, the twelve years of Sen. Victor Ndoma Egba at the senate was a waste to the people of central senatorial district in all ramifications, noting that instead of building human beings he was building empires, as a result the region has no officers in security agencies; the police, Immigration, Customs etc.

“In the past 16 years, the politicians in our constituency and state at large had forgotten that we the chiefs exist, they forgotten that there is a class call Traditional Rulers Council that is why on behalf of our subjects we are urging them to make sure they fulfill the promises they made during their campaigns.” “ They gave us a lot of stories during their campaign before we gave them the mandates, so we are going to watch them in the next four years whether they will actually fulfill their promises or not.” “Check the whole central senatorial district in terms of security we have no custom officers except one or two from Ugep, we don’t have officers even in police, immigration etc, so we call on them to raise our people in the sector so that they can measure up with other states in the country.”

However, Ovar Ajom iii, noted that senator Ayade from his past records has proven to be a man of his words, therefore, they are expecting that he will do just as he promised lot would be done to make life more meaningful for workers”. “We have a very understanding governor, who holds the civil service in high esteem in Ogun State.

The civil service is paramount to him and he doesn’t joke with their welfare. He does whatever is legitimate if it is their right, he makes sure that they get it,” she said. On expectations of civil servants in the new dispensation, during the campaign and if that is done then the state would be happy to have him at this critical stage of once oil state.

He added that Ayade should build on the natural resources the state is endowed with such as salt, water falls for the generation of electricity etc and make a different. “They can’t deceive us again, about the national grip, talk of electricity, we have the natural resources that would have giving us light in the state and even distribute it to other states for revenue generation for the state.”

“ We have Agbokim waterfalls that could be use as a source of electricity generation, we have enough salt deposit in Okpoma in Yala LGA, in fact we have discover salt in Apiapong in Obubra and even Etung put them together its more than that in Ebonyi state, so if our governor is going to build on what we have said, he is going to beat the records of any other person because we are going to produce enough salt, generate electricity.” “Even rocks (stones) some states are proud of, we have in Akamkpa and Obubra in large quantity. We have the rocks in a quantity that if domesticated will serve even our neighbouring states,” he concluded
