PDP Inaugurates Election, Campaign Committees For Kogi, Bayelsa


Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Uche Secondus yesterday inaugurated two Na­tional Campaign committees to mobilize winning support for its gubernatorial candidates in Kogi and Bayelsa states.

Secondus reeled out seven mandate for the expanded com­mittee led by Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and Dr. Haliru Bello for Kogi and Bayelsa states respectively.

Secondus said the commit­tees should take off immedi­ately and ensure that tge effect: Reconciliation of all interest groups in Kogi and Bayelsa states; Manage and raise funds for the campaigns; facilitate Me­dia campaign incorporating so­cial media and voters education.

They are also to make Mobili­zation of the youth and women; training of the agents to be well behaved at the polling Units and coordination of activities in the situation room for the party.

Secondus said the Peoples Democratic Party has done all it needed to have done in ac­cordance to the law facilitating a transparent primaries election that has elevated the PDP stan­dards of a peaceful and fair pres­idential election in which the party failed.

Secondus tasked the Indepen­dent National Electoral Com­mission to be unbiased in its conduct of the elections even as it tasked the security agencies to maintain same.

He stressed that the transpar­ency of these primaries were the first since the PDP was created in providing internal democra­cy.

Secondus pledged a civilised campaign from the PDP in the two states stressing that the par­ty will not indulge in violence whilst the electioneering period

“We have fulfilled all righ­teousness for Kogi and Bayelsa state. For the first time in our party we have done very fair primaries process. We have lift­ed the standard.

“We have carefully selected men of timber and caliber to seat plan engineer and re engi­neer the campaign for us to win these two states.

“We will do the most civi­lized campaigns ‘ PDP will nev­er be involved in violence and “We call on INEC and the security agencies to come and conduct a good election.

“We call on the APC govern­ment to conduct a free and fair elections in Kogi and Bayelsa state.”
