PDP Crisis: No Victor, No Vanquished -Makarfi

Patrick Osadebamwen, Abuja

Chairman of the Caretaker Committeeof the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, has expressed joy over a judgement by a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt upholding the legitimacy of the caretaker committee and dismissing Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff as chairman of the Party.

Makarfi said in spite of the fact that the court upheld its committee as the legitimate body to lead the party to a convention, there was neither a victor nor a vanquished in the contest even as he called on Sheriff to join hands with the committee for the growth of the party.

Makarfi who spoke to reporters in a phone interview said: “Am indeed happy with the judgement on the one hand but also sad that it had to come to this. For me there should be no winner or loser on this matter.

“Am still calling on Sen Ali Modu Sheriff and his followers to join us so that we accommodate one another and indeed all other groups in a just, fair and equitable matter with a view to moving the Party forward,” Makarfi stated.
