PDP Committees Demand Dissolution of Adamawa Exco

Patrick Osadebamwen, Abuja

Members of the ward congress and appeal committees sent to Adamawa state have jointly called on the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to dissolve the Joel Madaki-led executive in the state.

The committees said this was because the ward congress which allegedly held last Saturday, did not hold.

Instead, they said, the congress and appeal committee members were held hostage in their hotels by some thugs on the instruction and supervision of the members of the state executives.

Barrister Moses Ibiyemi, member of the appeal committee who addressed the media on behalf of the committees said this yesterday in Abuja.

Ibiyemi said the Adamawa State chairman of the PDP and his secretary, A.T. Shehu; Organizing secretary and the woman leader recruited thugs who threatened to kill them if they do not act in accordance to their wishes.

He said the committee members were kept hostage and until the secretary of the committee, Abdullahi Ohioma signed prepared congress results, under duress, before they were released.

He said the desperate executive committee members were bent on retaining their seat in spite of being in office longer than specified two term of four years.

“There was no election at Adamawa. The result prepared and forced on the committee by the State chairman and Exco was false and not true.

“That it is a fact. This type of behaviour was the second as the same Joel Madaki-led excutive did same thing during the primary election in Adamawa when they held the congress committee hostage for three days.

“We strongly recommend the immediate dissolution of Joel Madaki-led executive in Adamawa state and caretaker committee should be set up to midwife the congress that will be free, fair and credible,” Ibiyemi stated.
