Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, has described gay marriage as an alien tradition in Africa and the church saying it reflects events of Sodomy and Gomorrah. The governor said this when a Cosmopolitan Arch. Bishop of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Primate Nicholas Okoh paid him a visit in the People’s House Makurdi.
He urged Nigerians to reject gay marriage saying it was high time Africans and Nigerians in particular go to the Western world and preach the virtues of Christianity to them since they cannot allow such practice in our society.
“Gay marriage is not a belief of Africans and the Church the issue is a new development and is a reflection of the event of Sodom and Gomorrah, so we must reject it,” he noted. Earlier Cosmopolitan Arch.
Bishop of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Primate Nicholas Okoh called on all Nigerians to reject gay marriage saying it was not a normal life.
Arc Bishop Okoh observed that Nigerians through the instrumentality of traditional, Christian and Islamic religions collectively resisted gay marriage and cannot be tolerated. “We cannot allow that kind of practice to be part of us therefore I urge all Nigerians to resist it all cost”, the Primate stated
