Benue State Government has signed a memorandum of Understanding with a group of chinese companies aimed at establishment of coal power plant, provision of potable water, irrigation and renovation of agriculture service centers.
The memorandum with the companies which operates under the auspices of CGC Al- liance for industrial and com- mercial revitalization of the state would also be in the area of construction of Makurdi Guma road, and reticulation of water in Makurdi, Otukpo and Katsina Ala, airport industrial park construction, sugar cane plantation and refineries.
Speaking, Governor Ortom expressed confidence in the ability of the group to deliver as it had successfully constructed the Otobi and Katsina-Ala water works. He said although the state owed CGC large amounts of money on the two projects he appealed for understanding while assuring that his admin- istration would do its best to honor contractual agreements.
Managing Director of the group, Mr Ye stated that vari- ous companies have teamed up under the alliance in order to handle all infrastructural projects in the state if given the opportunity and expressed appreciation to the Ortom ad- ministration for inviting them to partner in the development of the state.
