Former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji , has commended the people of the State, his constituents and colleagues in the Senate for their support during the legal battle at the Election Petitions Tribunal.
This was sequel to his victory at the Tribunal.
Ochendo, as he is popularly called, in a statement issued by his senior legislative aide and media adviser, Mr. Eddie Onuzuruike, in Abuja yesterday, was quoted as saying that the judgement from the Tribunal, which affirmed his electoral victory, was a confirmation of the confidence reposed in him by his constituents.
“May I with utmost humility and gratitude to God thank and the people of Abia who gave me their total mandate to govern them for eight solid years and my constituents in Abia Central Senatorial District, who renewed the mandate in a senatorial bid that has positioned me into active legislative affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“I thank my colleagues in the Senate who have ceaselessly encouraged me through all media – text messages, phone calls and personal visits.
“The tribunal Judgment of Tuesday October 13, 2015 in Umuahia, Abia State is a confirmation of the confidence reposed in me by my people and my unshakable belief in the judiciary.”
He, therefore, called on all Abians, particularly the people of his senatorial district, party members and political opponents to join hands with him in the task of giving the best to the people he described as widows, people with disabilities and the teeming youths, who are facing the ‘fiercest challenges of our time’.
According to him, “The 2015 elections have come and gone. Let us synergize all our efforts into delivering the utmost to the majority.”
The UNION reports that Orji is the senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District.
