A relief came the way of Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday as Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld his victory in the April governorship election.
The governorship Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the State, Gboyega Isiaka , had in his petition, claimed that elections in Obafemi- Owode, Odeda, Ewekoro, Ado-Odo/Ota, Remo North, Sagamu, Abeokuta North and South were marred by irregularities and therefore challenged Amosun’s victory.
However, the Tribunal in its judgement declared that Ibikunle Amosun was the duly elected Governor of the State, dismissing the petitions brought by Isiaka.
According to the Tribunal Chairman, Justice Henry Olusiyi , while delivering his judgement which lasted more than four hours at Court located in Isabo, Abeokuta, noted that the principal witnesses of the petitioners were inconsistent and could not be relied upon by the tribunal.
The Tribunal boss further added that the expert presented by the petitioners was a statistic expert and not a forensic expert and his competency on the analysis of the data could not be relied upon.
