Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency yesterday announced Mr Calistus Obi as its Acting Director-General and Chief Executive Officer
A change of guards has occurred at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) as Barr. Calistus Nwabueze Obi has assumed office as the Acting Director General/Chief Executive Officer following the handing over by Dr Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi as directed by the Federal Government.
A statement signed by NIMASA’s Deputy Director/ Head Public Relations, Isichei Osamgbi, stated that Barr. Obi, was until his appointment was the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services in the Agency.
The statement said he brings over two decades experience in the public sector, law practice and the maritime industry into his new responsibility. According to the statement, Obi was born on May 1, 1964 and hails from Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
He studied Law at the University of Nigeria Nsukka and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991 after duly completing the mandatory studies at the Law School. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The Acting DG is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), member of the International Bar Association (IBA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, amongst membership of several other professional associations. The statement further said that Obi is married with children.
