No Hidden Motives In CCB, CCT Act Amendment -Namdas

The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media and Publicity, Abdulrazak Namdas on Thursday stated that the amendment to the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act by the House was done without any hidden intentions.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Namdas said that the House was just doing its legislative job.

The House on Wednesday made some amendments to the CCB and CCT Act.

“We are just doing our legislative jobs to improve laws as legislators. We have our duties.

“People should not allude that it was done with an intention. It should be seen in the light of doing our job,” Namdas said.

When asked on the stripping of the President to appoint members of the Bureau, the spokesman of the House stated that the National Assembly was not usurping the powers of the anybody but cautioning public office holders adding that it was done in fairness.

He further explained that the House was doing something to tackle the bombing of oil pipelines in the south south by the Niger Delta Avengers.

“As a member of the Committee on Defence, steps are being taken to address the security situation in the area”, he said.
