The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) yesterday said it had extended deadline for membership recertification exercise from October 1, to November 30, to enable members meet their financial obligations.
Mr Willy Ogbidi, Secretary, NIPR Membership Service Committee, disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Abuja.
He said that the institute had to extend the exercise because some members complained of non-payment of their salaries in their various organisations.
He said some members in the military and other security agencies were also busy fighting insurgents in the north east.
The President of the institute, Dr Rotimi Oladele, had on September 1 said the institute would apply the rules on any member who failed to certify or re-certify his or her membership before October 1, 2015.
Oladele made the statement when he led his team on a visit to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information, Dr Folashade Yemi-Esan.
