New Taraba NYSC Coordinator Assumes Duty, Assures Sports Development

Okerafor Athanatius, Jalingo.
The new Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Taraba State, Mr. Emmanuel Attah has assured the government and people of the state of offering assistance in the development of Sports, using his wealth of experience as former Team Coordinator Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Mr. Emmanuel Atta who spoke to the UNION in Jalingo, yesterday, after taking over, said he served the Nigerian Super Eagles as Team Coordinator between 2007 to 2015, adding that it will not be difficult for him to help Tarabans produce professional footballers.
According to him, he has already met with the state Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development and has offered to render assistance free to help develop sports in the state.
The State Coordinator further disclosed that his primary assignment in Taraba was the welfare of Corps Members and Staff, adding that the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (SAEDS), Child Education and Sports Development will be his guiding principle.
While describing Taraba as the most NYSC friendly-state in the Country that has more than two thousand Corps members currently serving in the State, he lauded the benevolence of Government and people of the State.
The state NYSC boss said he has the plan of venturing in productive areas that would benefit the state and Corps members with a view to leaving a footprint others would emulate.
“We need to help the government of Taraba State to develop because NYSC has the manpower and we intend to build on the projects to empower positively,” he said.
Attah promised to co-opt members of the community for greater partnership in the area of child education.
The Coordinator said because of the partnership NYSC has with the Bank of Industries (BOI), he would ensure that Corps members are trained under the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Scheme and would facilitate loans for them to establish their companies and become employers of labour after their service year, rather than walking the streets in search of white collar jobs.
He said the NYSC scheme has the following services of; poultry, tailoring, electronics, computer studies, confectioneries, beads making, and cosmetology, and many others to render to the serving Corps members in the State with a view to making them self- reliant after service.
