My Seat Not Vacant –Mark

Barely a week after his election was annulled by the Appeal court, the immediate past senate president senator David Mark yesterday declared that he would surely return to senate soon..

He insisted that the All Progressive Congress ( APC ) can never be a threat to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Benue South senatorial zone.

Meanwhile the PDP senators have described the nullification of the election of the former senate president as a temporary set back. The PDP senators in a solidarity visit to the former senate president declared that senator would triumph at the forthcoming re run election for the Benue South senatorial seat. The PDP caucus was led on the visit by the Deputy senate president senator Ike Ekweremadu.

But senator Mark in a remark during the visit said he was shocked by the ruling of the Appeal court, but said he would surely return to his seat.

Senator David Mark in a statement by his media assistant Paul Mumeh however assured that Benue South Senatorial zone will remain impenetrable for the opposition , All Progressive Congress ( APC) in the forthcoming re-run election.

This he said is anchored on the overwhelming solidarity and support “by my people who are solidly behind me . I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that there is no opposition to my party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) .

Senator Mark assured the Senate cacus of the PDP who paid him a solidarity visit following the annulment of his March 28, 2015 Senatorial election that the Appeal tribunal verdict has strengthened him and his constituents the more.

Senator Mark said: “ The Appellate tribunal judgement came as a surprise to me. But I am happy there is opportunity for a rerun election. I can assure you that any day, any time, my people will vote for “Benue South Senatorial zone is totally a PDP arear. One Senator, the four House of Representative members, 10 out of 11 state House of Assembly members are all members of the PDP.

So, clearly, there is no room for APC or any other party in my “Be rest assured that under a free and fair contest , I have no challenger. My people would not be cowed or intimidated to do otherwise.

“I respect the ruling of the Appeal Tribunal , but let no one be deceived by any gimmick that the result of the election was declared while collation was still on. The Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) returning officer Professor Latif Tiamiyu who announced the result three days after the election, a university Professor.
