Monarch Renews Call For Fight Against Insecurity In Abia

Ogbonnaya Ndukwe, Aba

The federal and Abia State governments have been called upon to moblize efforts to fight the resurgence of kidnapping and violent robbery incidents which have returned in parts of the commercial city of Aba and its environs. They were also urged to ensure the deployment of well armed security operatives at strategic locations and known flashpoints where the hoodlums are known to operate without being caught in order to check their activities and nip it in the bud.

Immediate past deputy chairman of Abia State Council of traditional Rulers, Eze Nzenwata Mbakwe, who made the call, said though the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to service chiefs to withdraw soldiers from roadblocks in areas where there were minimal security problems, was aimed at recovering enough strength to fight insurgency in the Northeast zone of the country, those in Abia State especially in Aba and its neighbouring communities and satellite villages, should be allowed to continue providing needed security to the citizenry.

He was of the opinion that engagements of such military operatives should be regulated in a way that each patrol team do not get stationed for long in a particular location in order not to become very familiar with the people and from there compromise their stance in carrying out their responsibilities to the detriment of the people they were supposed to protect.
